On June 3, 2021, the Government of Canada passed Bill C-5 to designate September 30 as a new federal statutory holiday known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. While the Government of Saskatchewan has chosen not to mandate a Provincial Holiday, ACE feels that this is an important issue and have decided to follow the lead of the federal government, the City of Saskatoon and many other Provinces and Territories.

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 marks the sixth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day where Canadians reflect upon the experiences and history of First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities in Canada. It is a day to acknowledge, reflect, and learn about the injustices they faced through the residential school system and the ways it continues to affect Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

We encourage everyone to take time on this day—and all days—to acknowledge and better understand the history and harms done, explore the vast learning resources available and participate in programs created and led by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit organizers.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process rooted in action, both for us as individuals and as members of our communities. It’s time to listen, learn, reflect, support, and use our positions and privileges to act.

In keeping with the spirit of Bill C-5, ACE will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 30th, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
